The European Design Awards is an annual award to honor outstanding work in communication design. The award’s visual identity is redesigned every year around the visual of an asterisk.
For the identity in 2017 we tried something very different from previous years. We wanted to do something less decorative and more conceptual. Our aim was, to develop a bunch of characters, that show the diversity of the awards and the people who get them. We wanted to strengthen the »European Idea« and the international outlook in an very simplified way.
For the visualization we tried to avoid defined color schemes of the european countries and concentrated on the individual personalities. Its also meant as a call, to distinguish yourself among your peers and be the winner.
